About this role

Role Title: Corporate Attorney (BigLaw Firms)

Role Type: Contractor

Location: Remote

micro1 is engaging Corporate Attorneys from top BigLaw firms to participate in a unique project for a leading customer. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters. This opportunity is ideal for legal professionals well-versed in high-stakes corporate matters and interested in contributing to the future of legal technology.

Scope of Work

  1. Review and analyze complex corporate documents, contracts, and deal structures relating to mergers & acquisitions, private equity, and capital markets.
  2. Provide accurate, detailed input on nuanced legal scenario assessments to inform AI model training.
  3. Evaluate commercial litigation materials, identifying critical legal principles and procedural details.
  4. Deliver expert feedback on legal reasoning, issue spotting, and drafting approaches as part of project deliverables.
  5. Support the creation and refinement of legal data sets by annotating, categorizing, and explaining key issues in corporate law.
  6. Ensure all work meets high standards for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with US legal practice.
  7. Collaborate asynchronously with project managers and internal reviewers to align on rubrics and quality expectations.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Active license to practice law in the United States.
  2. Recent experience (current or within the last 3 years) at a top-tier BigLaw firm, focusing on corporate law, mergers & acquisitions, private equity, or capital markets.
  3. Demonstrated expertise in commercial litigation and high-value transactional matters.
  4. Exceptional attention to detail in the analysis and interpretation of legal documents.
  5. Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex agreements and legal instruments.
  6. Strong written communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely explain legal concepts for diverse audiences.
  7. Prior experience with legal data annotation or rubric-based review is a plus, but not required.

How to get selected for this role

micro1 posts several BigLaw listings at once, corporate, M&A and litigation, a general BigLaw track, and specialty variants, each with roughly a hundred seats. The credential is large-firm experience; what decides selection is a screen that tests how you analyse a legal scenario in writing and out loud. Here is the path and what each step measures.

  1. Apply to the listing that matches your practice

Corporate, M&A and litigation each have their own posting; the general BigLaw listing covers everything else, and there are separate tracks for civil rights, healthcare, criminal defense and family law. Pick the one your experience is deepest in and say which firm and practice group in the profile.

  2. Clear the three questions lawyers ask first

Outside-work policy: if you are still at a firm, check it; former practitioners have nothing to clear. Conflicts: you are not representing anyone, so client conflicts rarely attach, but the marketplace NDA does. Unauthorized practice: the work is training material, not advice, so those rules are not implicated.

  3. Sit the AI interview like an advisor, not a treatise

micro1’s interviewer walks you through a scenario and pushes on your analysis. It rewards issue-spotting, a clear structure, and committing to a conclusion in plain English; it fails answers that survey every authority and decide nothing. Reason aloud the way you would brief a partner in two minutes.

  4. Treat the legal assessment as a senior-associate review

The written task hands you model output, a contract analysis, a memo, a strategy, and asks what is wrong and what a competent lawyer would have produced. Be specific, cite the rule, and write the corrected version rather than describing it.

  5. Stay responsive once you are in the talent pool

Passing puts you in micro1’s pool; project seats are assigned as they open. Matching can take days or weeks and some candidates are not selected. Keep the profile current and answer invitations quickly; hours are yours to set once matched.

Before you apply

Do I have to be at a BigLaw firm now?

The listings ask for BigLaw-firm experience; read the posting above for how it defines that. Across this market, former practitioners, solo and boutique lawyers, of counsel and lawyers between roles make up most of the contributor pool, because they are the ones with hours to give.

Is this the practice of law?

No. You are grading and improving reasoning produced by an AI model and writing reference material. No client is represented and no advice is given, so unauthorized-practice rules are not engaged. Confidentiality terms in the marketplace NDA do apply to everything you see.

Do I need an active bar admission?

It depends on the listing; read the eligibility line above. Many projects accept licensed-but-not-practising attorneys. Jurisdiction and practice area matter more than status: a project on Delaware corporate law wants people who practised it.

How many hours is it?

The listings describe hourly contract work with hours you set once you are matched. Check the posting for any minimum. Nothing is billed until you are on a project.

Where does Skillora fit?

Skillora is an interview-practice product that also aggregates AI-training listings. We are independent of micro1. If you are placed through the apply link on this page, micro1 pays Skillora a referral fee; that does not change what you are paid, and micro1’s vetting alone decides who is selected.
