About the Role
Mercor is partnering with a leading technology organization to recruit experienced Electrical Design Specialists for a short-term project. Specialists will apply their hands-on industry experience to analyze, evaluate, and solve complex electrical design and system-level engineering problems across a range of applications.
What You'll Do
- Develop, analyze, and evaluate electrical designs based on technical requirements, specifications, and system performance.
- Design and review electrical systems, circuits, equipment, and components, including distribution systems, power systems, control panels, switchgear, and motor control systems.
- Interpret and analyze electrical schematics, single-line and wiring diagrams, layouts, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.
- Perform electrical calculations including load flow, voltage drop, short-circuit analysis, protection coordination, and equipment sizing.
- Evaluate design alternatives, engineering trade-offs, and system performance, and identify potential design issues or improvements.
- Review and validate designs, calculations, assumptions, and technical approaches against project requirements and engineering standards.
Who Should Apply
- Experienced Electrical Design Engineers, Electrical Engineers, or Electrical Design Specialists with hands-on industry experience.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of electrical system design, power systems, and engineering principles.
- Practical experience designing or evaluating electrical systems across areas such as industrial facilities, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, renewable energy, building services, or energy storage.
- Experience with low- and medium-voltage systems, electrical protection, equipment sizing, and power distribution.
- Experience with electrical design and engineering tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, EPLAN, Revit, or equivalent is a plus.
Candidates with practical experience applying electrical engineering principles to real-world electrical systems are strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree or professional engineering certification.
- Experience with power system studies, including load flow, short-circuit analysis, and protection coordination.
- Experience specifying and sizing transformers, switchgear, cables, motors, and protection equipment.
- Experience with industrial automation, instrumentation, or control systems.
- Experience designing electrical systems for manufacturing facilities, data centers, renewable energy projects, or other complex infrastructure.
- Familiarity with applicable electrical codes and standards such as IEC, IEEE, NEC, or equivalent.
