Mathematics Expert (AI Training)
About the Role
What if your years of advanced mathematical training could directly influence how AI reasons through the world's hardest problems? We're looking for Mathematics Experts with Master's or PhD-level credentials to help build and refine the mathematical reasoning capabilities of cutting-edge AI models.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. You'll apply deep expertise in algebra, calculus, statistics, discrete mathematics, or related fields to shape AI that millions of people will rely on — working asynchronously, on your own schedule.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Develop, solve, and review advanced mathematical problems with real-world depth and rigor
- Design complex problem statements that challenge and improve AI reasoning capabilities
- Evaluate AI-generated mathematical outputs for correctness, clarity, and logical soundness
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts across projects
- Ensure mathematical precision and depth across all deliverables
- Work independently on task-based assignments — fully on your own schedule
Who You Are
- Hold a Master's or PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field
- Deep expertise in one or more of: algebra, calculus, statistics, or discrete mathematics
- Comfortable working with Python, MATLAB, or Mathematica for research or problem-solving
- Exceptionally precise — you care about rigor, clarity, and getting things exactly right
- Strong written communicator who can explain complex concepts with precision
- Fluent in English and based in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, or New Zealand
Nice to Have
- Prior experience with data annotation, data quality assessment, or evaluation systems
- Background in academic research, technical writing, or mathematical publishing
- Familiarity with AI tools or machine learning concepts
- Experience creating or reviewing educational mathematical content
Why Join Us
- Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs
- Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
- Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, intellectually stimulating work
- Make a direct, tangible impact on how AI understands and reasons through mathematics
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
