micro1 is engaging Investment Banking Experts to contribute to a customer's project focused on enhancing financial data analysis, modeling, and industry research processes. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.

Scope of Work

  1. Conduct comprehensive company and industry research to inform data-driven AI training initiatives.
  2. Perform and review buyer or target screening, comparable company analysis, and financial modeling tasks.
  3. Build, update, and troubleshoot detailed Excel-based valuation and transaction models, ensuring methodological accuracy and logical consistency.
  4. Prepare and edit materials akin to client presentations or pitchbooks, reflecting transaction execution scenarios and strategic rationale.
  5. Analyze and critique sample materials for numerical errors, weak strategy, or unclear logic, providing actionable feedback for improvement.
  6. Explain accounting treatments, valuation adjustments, deal sensitivities, and trace how key assumptions influence analytical outcomes.
  7. Deliver precise written and verbal explanations of complex financial concepts tailored to diverse audiences, leveraging strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience as a former Senior Associate (preferably third-year) or Vice President from an M&A or industry-coverage team at a leading investment bank, established M&A boutique, or sector-focused advisory firm.
  2. Substantial hands-on exposure to live acquisition or sale processes, with a track record of high-quality analysis and client-facing deliverables.
  3. Demonstrated ability to both produce and review analytical and presentation materials, ensuring they meet senior banker or client standards.
  4. Mastery in Excel modeling, including troubleshooting, scenario analysis, and presentation of outputs with clear rationale.
  5. Direct experience conducting company/industry research, target screening, comps analysis, and pitchbook preparation.
  6. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and actionable feedback.
  7. Ability to identify and clearly articulate quantitative inaccuracies and strategic weaknesses in transaction materials.
