About this role

About the role

Mercor is hiring Corporate Designers to work across two aesthetics projects — Project Style and Project Midas. In both, experts review sets of AI-generated knowledge-work deliverables (decks, docs, spreadsheets, PDFs) and rework the strongest one until it is genuinely well-made, on both content and design.

Your work directly shapes how AI models produce polished, publish-ready knowledge work — the kind of output a consulting firm, investment bank, or in-house design team would send to a client without embarrassment.

What you'll do

  • Compare AI-generated versions of the same deliverable and score them across layout & spacing, typography, colour, domain realism, and polish
  • Take the strongest candidate and rework it to reference quality
  • Provide clear justifications tied to specific evidence (the cell, slide, table or section, and what the reader loses)
  • Bring your design judgment to real corporate client materials

You're a good fit if you

  • Have a background as a designer, marketing/comms professional, or knowledge-work specialist — management consulting, investment banking, in-house corporate design, agency work, and marcom all fit
  • Spot subtle layout inconsistencies most people miss: alignment gaps, unequal card heights, dead space, margin discipline
  • Are opinionated about what "good" looks like in a business deliverable and can articulate it in writing
  • Care about how work is presented, not just what it says
  • Have access to Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel — deliverables are produced in native Office formats

Rate and commitment

  • $85–100/hour, hourly
  • Approximately 10 hours per week
  • Fully remote

Screening

Submit your resume, then complete the Corporate Designer calibration assessment — about 55 minutes, and untimed. It has two parts:

  1. Preference labelling (≈45 min) — download and evaluate three real client deliverables: an Excel workbook, a PowerPoint deck and a Word document. Score each from 1 to 5 against the project's scale and write an evidenced justification. Each file is graded on both the score and the justification. The score is exact-match against a calibrated answer key: one point away earns zero, the same as any other wrong answer.
  2. Tooling & portfolio (≈10 min) — confirm your access to PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, and upload 1–2 examples of slide decks you have built yourself

Every question in the assessment is required. The assessment is unpaid — it is part of the application, and the hourly rate above applies only to project work once you are onboarded.

We consider all qualified applicants without regard to legally protected characteristics and provide reasonable accommodations upon request.
