About this role

Role Title: Robotics/Mechatronics Expert

Role Type: Contractor

Location: Remote

micro1 is engaging Robotics/Mechatronics Experts to contribute to a technically advanced project in collaboration with a leading customer. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.

Scope of Work

  1. Analyze and deliver practical robotics or mechatronics tasks using advanced AI coding agents, such as Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork.
  2. Design, implement, and document solutions to challenging technical scenarios relevant to robotics and mechatronics systems.
  3. Demonstrate the application of AI agents in complex, ambiguous, or large-scale engineering problems, including navigating extensive codebases and debugging advanced issues.
  4. Produce detailed, structured written and verbal feedback on AI agent performance and usability, emphasizing workflows where agents generate code sequences rather than simple chat responses.
  5. Contribute real-world examples of using AI coding tools for end-to-end feature development, architectural changes, and problem-solving in STEM contexts.
  6. Collaborate remotely with the project lead, sharing insights on how AI agents can be leveraged for technical acceleration in robotics or mechatronics projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Current robotics, mechatronics, or STEM professional with a proven track record of hands-on technical projects.
  2. Proficiency in using Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork agents to generate code sequences for real-world engineering applications.
  3. Demonstrated experience applying AI coding agents to solve complex challenges beyond simple code generation—such as debugging, system design, and optimizing technical workflows.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear documentation and articulate technical insights effectively.
  5. Experience contributing to projects involving large or intricate codebases, end-to-end feature implementation, or major architectural shifts.
  6. Ability to showcase specific examples where AI agentics have been integral to technical problem-solving or workflow automation in robotics or mechatronics.
  7. Familiarity with collaborative, remote project environments and a proactive approach to sharing expertise and knowledge.
