In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters. This opportunity is especially suited for contributors who have a background in research or academic work related to child development or developmental psychology, with or without direct clinical experience.
Scope of Work
- Evaluate, review, and annotate data sets relevant to child development and developmental psychology for AI system training.
- Provide detailed insights and feedback on the accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and developmental relevance of data and model outputs.
- Contribute expert analysis to scenario development, test cases, and real-world situations involving children’s learning and behavior.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to inform model improvements and ensure psychological integrity in AI interactions.
- Create or refine guidelines for AI systems to better address linguistic, cognitive, and psychosocial aspects of child development across diverse backgrounds.
- Document findings and recommendations with clarity and depth to support ongoing AI research and development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate (PhD) in Child Development, Developmental Psychology, or closely related field.
- Demonstrated involvement in technology-driven, digital, or AI-focused projects relevant to child development is highly desirable.
- Comfortable working remotely on digital platforms, delivering contributions independently while engaging with a distributed team.

One where the age band changes the right answer, one where cultural context changes it, and one where the textbook answer is wrong for a real child. The interviewer asks scenario questions and follows up on what you say; having cases ready turns a vague answer into a specific one.

Do I need AI or technical experience?
No. The listing says so explicitly: your domain knowledge is what the project is buying. Comfort with working remotely on digital platforms is enough.
Do I need clinical experience?
No. The role is written for people with a research or academic background in child development, with or without clinical work. Clinical psychologists with a doctorate qualify too.
Can I do this alongside a faculty or postdoc position?
Usually. It is independent contract work on someone else’s data, not your research, so most institutions treat it as outside consulting. Check your institution’s policy and any grant terms; the marketplace NDA covers the other direction.
How long until paid work starts?
