Part-Time Senior Network Engineer (CCIE Required)
Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer with an active CCIE certification to support a large enterprise network environment on a part-time, remote basis. This is a 12-month contract averaging 20 hours per week, with flexibility in weekly hours based on project demands.
This role is ideal for a senior engineer who thrives with minimal oversight and enjoys balancing reactive operational support with strategic network engineering initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 Cisco routing and switching support.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues, including routing problems, escalated service requests, and urgent operational incidents.
- Support MACD (Moves, Adds, Changes, and Deletes) requests and resolve ambiguous networking issues.
- Perform network remediation, legacy configuration cleanup, and network consolidation efforts.
- Validate network documentation and implement scheduled network changes.
- Participate in planned engineering projects focused on improving network stability and performance.
- Collaborate with internal teams while operating independently with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Active CCIE certification.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco enterprise networking, including Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing and switching.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in complex enterprise network environments.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Cisco ACI.
- Working knowledge of Palo Alto Firewalls.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise network environments and infrastructure modernization initiatives.

- Approximately 95% Cisco routing and switching environment.
- Ongoing network consolidation and infrastructure improvement projects.
- 30% reactive operational support and troubleshooting.
- 70% planned engineering work, including cleanup, remediation, documentation validation, and scheduled changes.
