Jobs That Pay $100 an Hour

These high paying remote jobs pay for what you know, not for hours at a desk. AI labs hire professionals through marketplaces like micro1 and Mercor to grade and write the answers their models learn from. An attorney reads two AI answers to a legal question and says which is stronger. A radiologist checks a model’s answer against the patient chart. A mathematician turns proofs into code a computer can check. Every listing on this page publishes $100 an hour or more at the bottom of its range.

The catch is the profession. Almost every listing asks for one, and you prove it before you are paid. Legal roles want a law degree, and most want an active bar license or years in practice. Medical roles want a physician, a psychologist or an experienced nurse practitioner, and the specialist roles want board certification. Finance roles want time in investment banking, equity research or a fund. Software and data roles want senior engineers and data scientists who have worked at a top company. Science roles want a PhD, or a master’s in math for the formal proof work.

Each field also has a page of its own that lists every rate, not only $100 and up: legal AI training jobs, medical AI training jobs, finance AI training jobs, software engineering AI training jobs, data and machine learning jobs and science AI training jobs.

High paying remote jobs by field

Published hourly rates for each field below, computed from the open listings. Every range starts at $100 or more. A wide range is the band a project pays within, so plan on its lower end until you have a track record.

FieldOpen listingsPublished hourly rate
Legal34$100 to $400
Medical39$100 to $350
Finance12$100 to $350
Software and data26$100 to $400
Science20$100 to $400

High Paying Medical Jobs

Mercor pays most for specialists. Its radiology, dermatology, surgery and endocrinology listings want a board-certified physician with an active US license who still sees patients. The work is reading AI answers to questions in your specialty, checking them against the patient chart, and saying which of two is stronger and why.

micro1 hires hospitalists to check AI-written clinical notes against the medical record, and bilingual psychiatrists and psychologists to write case studies set in another language and culture. Mercor’s clinician roles take nurse practitioners with four or more years of practice.

39 open medical listings right now, published at $100 to $350 an hour.

High Paying Finance Jobs

Finance listings want people who have done the job at a bank or a fund. micro1’s equity research roles ask for sell-side coverage of several companies through a few earnings cycles. Its investment banking associate track asks for current or recent work as an associate or a second-year analyst. Mercor adds quantitative finance, asset management and biotech investment experts who compare two AI answers to a hard finance problem and pick the better one.

micro1’s Finance Specialist listings are presentation work: rebuilding investor decks and board reports slide by slide, then critiquing how they tell the story. The listing asks for a portfolio of decks you rebuilt or designed.

12 open finance listings right now, published at $100 to $350 an hour.

High Paying Software and Data Jobs

Software listings here want senior engineers. Mercor’s open source project asks for a senior, staff or principal engineer with merged commits in the last six months to a project people use. Its site reliability and legacy migration roles want engineers who have run production infrastructure or moved large production systems themselves. micro1 pays engineers to maintain and contribute to open source repositories, per accepted task.

Data roles want time at a top company more than a title. micro1’s applied scientist and junior data scientist tracks both ask for at least a year at a top technology, finance or research firm, and the junior track is for people based in an English-speaking country. Alignerr’s machine learning evaluation specialists design problems hard enough to make frontier models fail.

26 open software and data listings right now, published at $100 to $400 an hour.

High Paying Science Jobs

Alignerr’s Lean 4 projects pay mathematicians to turn proofs into code a computer can check, and to add to libraries such as mathlib. They ask for a master’s or PhD in math, logic or theoretical computer science, and experience with a proof assistant, Lean preferred.

micro1’s physics experts solve research-level problems for AI training. They need a PhD, or an advanced PhD candidacy, and recent publications in their subfield. Mercor posts senior economics research and biotechnology roles too.

20 open science listings right now, published at $100 to $400 an hour.

What the work looks like

Most of this is evaluation and writing. You compare two AI answers and say which is better, write the reference answer a model should have given, or build a problem hard enough to make it fail. A smaller share is presentation and code work: micro1’s specialist tracks rebuild slide decks, and some engineering roles ship real code to open source projects.

Expect contract work, not a salaried job. You are an independent contractor paid by the hour or by the accepted task, and a project ends when the lab has the data it needs. Most listings let you set your own hours, which is why working professionals take them on the side. Some are talent pools: you are screened once and paid only when a project opens.

The screen comes before any pay. micro1 and Mercor both run an AI interview on your field, and Mercor’s specialist listings ask for an active US license and board certification on top. A strong résumé gets you to the interview. How you explain your reasoning out loud decides the rest.

Where these listings come from

Six marketplaces publish this work openly. Every listing above links to the one that posted it, and each has its own page here covering pay, screening and who gets hired.

High-paying AI training jobs, answered

Are these high paying remote jobs legit?

Yes. Each listing links to the marketplace that posted it, publishes its rate before you apply, and charges nothing to join. micro1 and Mercor, which post most of them, are hiring platforms AI labs use to reach experts. Treat any remote job that asks you to pay for training or equipment first as a scam.

What jobs pay $100 an hour remotely?

Expert work for AI labs, in law, medicine, finance, software, data and science. Attorneys, physicians, investment bankers, senior engineers and PhD researchers grade AI answers and write better ones. Every listing on this page starts at $100 an hour or more, and the pay table shows each field’s live range.

What are the highest paying freelance jobs?

Professional work billed by the hour. In this feed, specialist physicians, attorneys and senior research roles publish the highest rates, and the list above is sorted highest first. Outside AI training, the same professions earn the most freelancing directly: expert network calls, expert witness work and fractional executive roles.

Do I need AI experience?

No. The listings ask for your profession, not AI skills, and most micro1 listings say so in writing: your domain knowledge is what matters. What you do need is clear written reasoning, since most tasks end with you explaining why an answer is right or wrong.

Can I do these jobs from outside the US?

Many of them. Some listings are open worldwide, some name a list of countries, and many legal and medical roles want a US license or US practice. Each card shows where a listing is open.

How many hours a week are these jobs?

Most are part-time and flexible, and you choose when to work. Some Mercor roles state a weekly commitment, from 20 hours up to full time. Talent pools pay nothing until a project opens, so read how each listing works before you count on the income.

Why do AI labs pay this much?

Because a wrong answer in law or medicine is expensive, and few people can spot one. Labs need experts to catch the mistakes a model makes with confidence, and the pool of practising specialists willing to do it is small. The rate is the price of that scarcity.

Other high paying remote work for professionals

AI training is one route to $100 an hour from home. If your profession is not on this page yet, these pay for the same expertise.

  • Expert networks. GLG, AlphaSights and Guidepoint pay professionals by the hour for phone consultations with investors and consultants researching their industry.
  • Toptal. A freelance network for senior software engineers, designers and finance experts that screens hard and matches you with client projects.
  • Expert witness work. Physicians, engineers and financial experts are paid hourly to review cases and testify, usually through referral directories and law firm networks.
  • Fractional executive roles. Part-time CFO, CTO and general counsel work for startups, found through fractional networks or your own contacts.

The screen is where these roles are won

Every marketplace above screens with an interview or assessment in your own domain before assigning paid work. Run that interview with Skillora first and get feedback on how you explained your reasoning, not just on what you said.
